Unusual design and jewelry compartment under top lid, lid and compartment open from the back forward to reveal the writing slope with pencil and ink compartments. Slope opens to stationery storage below. Ivory, mother-of-pearl, silver and woods of varying colors are used. The case is rosewood, 13” x 9” x 5”

This is a collection of antique writing desks. Lap desks featured a writing surface, compartments for pens, ink, sand or blotting paper, and storage for stationery and documents. Made of hardwoods like mahogany or walnut, these desks are very sturdy.
