Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection includes photographs taken at the Breaux Bridge Centennial Celebration on April 10th, 11th, and 12th in 1959. The celebration included the Crawfish Queen Contest and Coronation Ball, five big dances, four parades, a hobby show, art show, athletic events, special exhibits, American Motorcycle Association Field Meet, cooking contests, and the Crawfish Trail Riders from Texas. There was also a Mass and the blessing of the new City Hall. The collection also includes one photograph taken sometime in the 1960’s of J.C. Broussard, English professor at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette).

Wayne Alfred acted as the photographer.
