Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Gerald Hubble Collection is a collection of mostly choral and instrumental music performed by local, regional, and university ensembles and recorded by Dr. Hubble primarily on open reel tape between 1977 and 1997, with some recordings preserved on Digital Audio Tape (DAT) from about 1994 to 2000. Each reel box may include performance date, original reel number, tape speed, performers, musical titles performed, venue, and separate printed programs (which sometimes contain annotated notes, such as song duration and audio cues). Tapes were generally recorded at 7.5 speed in stereo, some retaining or omitting applause, while a few were transferred from DATs and VCR recordings.

The sound recordings are arranged into five series, based on ensemble name, with a sixth series comprising DATs from all performances. The recordings are then arranged chronologically, with each item containing the box/file number, ensemble, recording date, and venue. For undated items, a reel number written on the box by the creator was used for approximating a date. Some note cards and miscellaneous programs are scattered throughout the archive boxes.

Gerald Hubbell donated this collection.
