 Series

Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

This collection contains correspondence, publications, and photographs dealing with the 1957 bicentennial and the 250th celebration of the Marquis de Lafayette’s birth. Thomas J. Arceneaux, who represented the city and parish of Lafayette during the celebration in France, donated most of the material. There is also a large collection of prints of the Marquis depicting him from when he served in the American Colonial Army in the 1770s until his death in 1834. These had been donated to Dupré Library earlier and were added to this collection due to subject matter.
