Scope and Contents

From the Series:

Series C contains correspondence and other documents related to Edwin Broussard's pre Senate activities. These include personal business and civic matters, documents from his legal practice and stint as district attorney, and political materials. There is a large variety of materials, including correspondence, conveyance records, invoices, and check stubs. Logs related to ESB's private legal practice are in Series G.

Personal correspondence in this series includes RFB letters and materials related to the organization of the Atchafalaya Basin Commission, Louisiana State University Alumni Association, and Iberia Parish community defense during the World War.

Political correspondence in this series also includes RFB letters, as well as materials related to the formation of the Progressive Party in Iberia, Louisiana, and the United States. RFB Senate campaign of 1911 12 and his House campaign of 1912 are included in the political category. Papers related to ESB's 1920 Senate campaign are also here. (See also Series E for additional 1920 campaign materials.)

Other political issues covered in this series are Prohibition, woman suffrage, and sugar. The following subsections of Series C are available on microfilm: personal and political.
