deKerlegand, Vivian (1917-2010). Scrapbooks, 1935-2017
Scope and Contents
These scrapbooks were compiled by her long-time friend and Marianite Associate Anna Jane Marks. They include photographs, cards, articles, correspondence and programs. Many of these items reflect Sister Vivian’s jubilees, mainly her 50th, 60th, 70th, and 75th anniversaries in the Marianite order.
Ms. Marks lent the scrapbooks to the University Archives and Acadiana Manuscripts Collection to digitize. The Archives holds DVDs containing the digitized versions of the scrapbooks.

Dreaming of becoming a nun at an early age, she entered the Marianites of Holy Cross on September 12, 1935. After teaching for 43 years, Sister Vivian worked for the Diocese of Lafayette as an archivist and as a clerk for the marriage tribunal. She also taught Special Education at St. Mary’s Orphanage in Lafayette. She continued to be active with the Marianites and celebrated 75 years of religious life in April of 2010.
