Biographical / Historical
Robert William Cline was born on October 3, 1932. He attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and received his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering in 1960 and Master’s degree in 1963. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin and received his doctorate the fall of 1968. His dissertation was titled “Optimization of the Detectability of Array Receiving Systems.”
Beginning in 1969, Dr. Cline taught electrical engineering at USL. He held the rank of associate professor until his retirement in 1994. He is the author of many publications, belonged to many professional societies, and received many honors and awards. He is married to Gloria Stark Cline, former director of Edith Garland Dupré Library. The couple resides in Lafayette, Louisiana.
