Scope and Contents
The collection contains correspondence, legal, and financial documents of the Gebert-Ray-Lee families, both original and typescripts. The families resided in Kentucky before some moved to Louisiana in the 1820s, where they resided in Opelousas and Grand Coteau.

Biographical / Historical
One of the major correspondents in this collection is James A. Lee (1830 – 1904), a druggist in Franklin and then New Iberia. He was a member of the first Southwestern Louisiana Industrial Institute Board of Trustees. Other major correspondents include his wife, Lucinda Ray Lee, her brother James Ray of Opelousas, and relatives in Kentucky.
