Biographical / Historical
Dr. Richard Cusimano was a history professor at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette). His doctorate was in medieval and Renaissance history, and he spent much of his career translating medieval texts, including those in Latin. He began teaching at USL in 1970 and retired in 2004. During that period, he also served as the Head of the History and Geography Department and Dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Behavioral Sciences. In 2004, he was awarded the Distinguished Professor Award and now has Emeritus status.
