George R. Mouton was born on January 2, 1911, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He was a police officer and worked at the Federal Prison in Washington, D.C. He came back to Lafayette in 1954 and worked at Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette). He was married and had two daughters and three grandchildren.
