Biographical / Historical
Dr. Kenneth B. Hait joined the psychology department of Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now University of Louisiana at Lafayette) in 1938 as the assistant head and became the head of the department the next year. During World War II, Dr. Hait served in the United States Army as part of the selection and placement department before returning to Lafayette at the war’s end. Together with Dr. W. Drayton Lewis, Dr. Hait worked to expand and refine the psychology program at the University. The Hait – Lewis Award in Psychology was named in honor of the two professors. Dr. Hait continued in his position as department head until May of 1968. Dr. Kenneth B. Hait passed away in Lafayette, LA on September 3, 1980.
