Biographical / Historical
Acadiana PRIDE was formed in 2014, where Louis Tolliver and Ted Richard acted as president and vice president respectively. To raise money, the committee held a signing contest called Acadiana Pride Idol, brought in visual and performing artists, and hosted benefit dinners. Support also came in from Cox Communications and the Lafayette Tourism Bureau. The first festival ran for four days, with around 5,000 to 6,000 people in attendance. The festival celebrated LGBTQ+ pride and recognized the contributions and acceptance of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals in Acadiana culture.
