Biographical / Historical
This collection was seeded from an American Library Association and National Endowment for the Humanities grant to expand the library’s holdings of LGBTQ+ historical materials. The Guilbeau Center for Public History collaborated with Special Collections and local LGBTQ+ communities to carry out oral history collection, exhibitions, memory workshops and other community engagement activities to help preserve these communities’ experiences. While digital items, books, and oral histories are held by the Guilbeau Center, original artifacts are housed in Special Collections of the University’s Dupre Library. Materials are collected on an ongoing basis.
