Biographical / Historical
Hélène Jeanne Boudreaux (Helen) was born on March 14, 1939, in Catahoula, St. Martin Parish, Louisiana. She is a Cajun and Country recording artist, singer-song writer, with many awards in the promotion of her Cajun culture, and a retired lady truck driver. She has 8 children, 23 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She is the founder of a children’s Cajun music jam session out of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Helen is also the founder of the “Young Stars of Cajun Music Hall of Fame.” She is the founder of another event called “Festivals des Jeunes Musicians Cadiens.” These young musicians are called the “Young Aces of Cajun Music.” Helen’s role was to book them at festivals statewide and at other occasions. Helen Boudreaux has also been recognized for honoring and promoting Cajun women musicians. She created the "Cajun Lady Musicians Wall of Fame" awards event, held in 2002 and 2003 in Henderson, Louisiana.
