The collection reflects Arceneaux's involvement with sugarcane, especially as a consultant for the Gulf and Western operation at Central Romana, Dominican Republic. Much of the correspondence and research material is connected with the breeding and selection work carried on there. There is also some material showing Arceneaux's continuing interest in his Acadian heritage.

Mrs. George Arceneaux, Sr. and Judge and Mrs. George Arceneaux, Jr. donated this collection.

This collection consists of publications, reports, minutes and other miscellaneous items on the sugar industry. Also included are incomplete volumes of Sugar Bulletin, the official bulletin of the American Sugar Cane League of the USA.

This collection contains sugar industry materials from the Thornton Family Companies. These include endorsement letters regarding machinery invention, photographs, publications and machinery blueprints and sketches.

Lyman E. “Butch” Thornton, former operator of the business, donated the collection.
