This collection contains Dr. Brandon’s working and personal papers. A large portion of the papers include written notes, in both English and French, on Louisiana history, people, cultures, folksongs, and dances. Many of these notes contain sources that she utilized for her research. Additional series include materials on linguistics and education, correspondence, publications from Dr. Brandon and other colleagues, and notecards listed in alphabetical order containing useful resources.

Scope and Contents Two scrapbooks: one entitled “My Trip to Novia Scotia”. Mrs. Dessens was part of a group from Acadiana who left on August 13, 1930 to visit Novia Scotia. The group was going to attend the “Celebration of the 175th anniversary of the Acadians Exile.” They returned to Acadiana on August 29, 1930.Volume 1 is a scrapbook of newspaper clippings and handwritten notes pertaining to her trip.
