Biography

The Friends of the Humanities was established in 1989 as a nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing the role of the interdisciplinary humanities at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and in Acadiana. This organization also generously provides various means of support to the College of Liberal Arts and strengthens the resources of the University’s Humanities program. The Friends of the Humanities believes learning, like friendship, is a life-long experience which goes beyond the classroom. The group meets the needs of individuals throughout the region by fostering interest in cultural issues and learning in Acadiana.
