Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The materials in this collection include Dr. Martin’s research on his political biography of Russell B. Long, a U.S. Senator and member of Louisiana’s most influential political family. Research files consist mostly of Long speeches photocopied from the Congressional Record spanning from 1949 to the mid-1980s, along with some news articles and hand-written notes. These are arranged alphabetically by topic devised by the creator to preserve the context in which the materials were researched and assembled. Manuscript files include Dr. Martin’s article and book drafts, excerpts, publishing correspondence and documents, and notes on index cards from various published texts and from the RBL 3700 collection at LSU archives. The third series consist of about 60 color 3x5 photographs taken by Dr. Martin of historic buildings in or around downtown Lafayette, Louisiana.

Dr. Michael Martin donated this collection.
