Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Mardi Gras Collection contains materials derived from various sources, with information primarily on two organizations: the Lafayette Town House-Order of Troubadours and the Southwest Louisiana Mardi Gras Association. There are pageant programs for both organizations. Other items of the Order of Troubadours include notebooks containing publicity, pageant scripts, invitations, and photographs. There are seven scrapbooks, which contain pageant programs, invitations, newspaper clippings, photographs, souvenirs, etc. The collection includes material and artifacts about other organizations, such as the Krewe of Attakapas, Krewe of Oberon, and Brigands de Lafitte. Series F contains material purchased through the Guillbeau Charitable Trust. Additionally, this collection, an LGBTQ resource and included in the LGBTQ+ Archives Project at UL Lafayette, contains materials from or about LGBTQ+ organizations such as the Krewes of Armeinius, Petronius, and Apollo.
