Scope and Contents
This collection reflects Hennessy's coaching career and his efforts to promote the sport of trampoline. It contains information on his USL squads and results of many of the meets in which they participated. The collection also has records reflecting Hennessy's involvement in international organizations.
There is a good deal of material on Hennessy's most successful pupils: Frank Schmitz, Wayne Miller, Leigh Hennessy, and Judi Ann Ford. Ms. Ford reigned as Miss America from 1968-1969.

Biographical / Historical
Jefferson Hennessy served as a member of the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) Health and Physical Education Department from 1959 until 1985. During that time, he coached the USL gymnastics and trampoline teams. His squads were among the best in the United States, and he coached several international champions. Hennessy was active in national and international trampoline organizations as an official and as a coach of U.S. national teams.
