Biographical / Historical
Yvonne Lavasseur attended American High School in Chicago, Illinois and graduated on 21 June 1953. She then attended the University of Montreal and received her B.A. degree. She later enrolled at the Southwestern Louisiana Institute (now the University of Louisiana at Lafayette) and received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in 1963. Her thesis was entitled “A Study of Some Organ Works of Joseph Elias”.
Lavasseur was a registered nurse and a successful writer in French. She published over 200 short stories and two novels, as well as worked in the public school system. She was also chairman for the Catholic Daughters of America.
