Biographical / Historical
Betty J. Thibodeaux Mier was born on January 27, 1932 in Crowley, Louisiana. She was a resident of Lafayette for 35 Years and a member of the Carmelite Monastery for nine years where she was an apostolate. Mrs. Mier was a volunteer in the Cathedral of St. John’s sacramental records office and was awarded the St. John Cathedral medal and the Bishop’s Service Medal in 1998 for her outstanding volunteer work. She was also a member of the Opelousas Chapter of D.A.R., the Lay order of Descaled Carmelite Sisters and the Sierra Club of Lafayette. She died on March 12, 2003 and is buried in St. John Cemetery, Lafayette, LA.
