Biographical / Historical
Washington, Louisiana, founded in 1770, is a town in St. Landry Parish and the third oldest settlement in Louisiana. Starting out as a French trading post, the Town of Washington acted as a steamboat port for various products, the largest port between New Orleans, LA and St. Louis, MO.
