This collection consists of civil defense material, including handbooks, course materials, and handwritten notes. Durand’s son, Howard Durand, originally donated the collection to the Bayou Teche Museum. It was later transferred to the University Archives and Acadiana Manuscripts Collection with the donor's permission through the efforts of Shane Bernard.

The second series contains miscellaneous financial reports and correspondence of the Castillo Family of New Orleans and St. Martinville, 1837-1897. Third are miscellaneous papers related to Alexander Thibodeaux of Breaux Bridge, 1873-1889, n.d.
