Scope and Contents Mainly papers dealing with land owned by A.D. Boudreaux and his father, Oliver, in Opelousas District and Lafayette Parish. Includes the following: deeds, sale documents, surveys, plats, other miscellaneous legal documents (sale of enslaved person), military service records including commission by Louisiana Governor in 1861 and amnesty oath, 1865, muster roll for Company K, 1st Regiment of Reserve Corps, Louisiana, July, 1864 – January, 1865, and newspaper article by Mario Mamalakis (1980)...

Scope and Contents This collection consists of two ledgers from the Cahanin Store in Opelousas. Volume 1, dated 1838-1840, contains 480 pages.The second ledger is dated December 1847 to 1850 and contains 549 pages. This manuscript kept the sales record of a general store, with many thousands of named accounts and what they bought. There are over 10,000 entries for such products as whiskey, tobacco, quinine, wines, clothing, fabrics, and much more.Linnie C. Herpin donated Volume 1....

The collection contains correspondence, legal, and financial documents of the Gebert-Ray-Lee families, both original and typescripts. The families resided in Kentucky before some moved to Louisiana in the 1820s, where they resided in Opelousas and Grand Coteau.

This collection consists of Opelousas and Attakapas District cattle brands, 1739-1944. These original volumes consist of the oldest brand books in the United States. The volumes have been microfilmed.
